2010:The year I get my ass in gear (maybe).

Yesterday was a good overarching explanation of the great conflict in my life.

In the morning I ran 13 km as part of my training schedule to run a half marathon in late april.

Then I drank whiskey and ate chips for 8 hours, and had a philly cheesesteak just before bed.

That is me in a nutshell. Sometimes trying to be healthy, sometimes following gluttonous impulses wherever they go. In the fall I did perhaps the best job I have ever done of eating well and getting exercise and I managed to lose 20lbs. I put on about 10 lbs over the holidays (I clearly ate and drank with abandon, as I was running three days a week over the break. I added 1-2 extra meals on many days however so here we are), and I am feeling once again the push to get serious about eating well and exercising. I am adding some circuit strength training on my off days from running, and I am going to take a Muay Thai class at the end of the month. I am starting to eat clean again, and I am going to try eating as local as possible and avoiding any processed food (this isn't so much about getting in shape, as it is a result of reading The Omnivore's Dilemma and starting to have some sort of food politics again). I think I am also going to play some squash with my pal Steve like we are straight 1980's business men instead of beardly university slackers. On top of that I am starting a placement as an OT in a week, I am starting a new band and planning to do as much as possible with the old band, and I have made the resolution to meditate daily for at least 5 minutes. This is perhaps way more than I can handle, but I am feeling ambitious. I am going to 30 this year, and I want to enter a new decade doing all the things I always talk about wanting to do, but never get around to.

So I am going to be using this blog that has been forsaken by my compatriots to track my progress on all fronts on a weekly basis. I hope the other Die Brukians contribute, but I will forge ahead regardless. I am going to update weekly about exercise, eating, school, rock music, and maybe football. I am sure no one will read it, but I am going to carry on like somebody is paying attention.

Keep it alive motherfuckers.
